Mbettata Grillo is a Sicilian white wine with character and history. The white Grillo grape variety is deeply rooted in the wine tradition of Sicily - originally known as the main ingredient of the famous liqueur wine Marsala. In recent years, however, it has undergone a real transformation: Grillo is increasingly being vinified into dry, expressive white wines with an independent profile - including the MBETTATA Grillo from the Luna Gaia winery ( the Sicilian partner of Cantina Orsogna).
In the hot south of Italy, the Grillo grape is now regarded as the white wine variety with the greatest quality potential. It achieves the best results in western Sicily, where the grapes for this wine also grow.
The spontaneous fermentation with natural wild yeasts (without pure yeasts) gives the wine an authentic and multi-layered flavour profile. On the nose, it delights with intense citrus notes, orange blossom and wild flowers. It is well-structured on the palate, with fine floral and spicy notes and a fresh, mineral finish.
